Islip Terrace resident Magda Resker is a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1984 to 2008. She currently works for Lindenhurst High School and along with Chief Warrant Officer 4 Christine Glynn teaches the only Marine Corps Junior ROTC program on Long Island.

In addition, Master Sergeant Resker volunteers her time with several military/veteran support organizations.  For over 15 years, she has helped in coordinating administrative duties for the New York Leatherneck Scholarship Ball, the oldest and largest fundraiser for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.  She can often be found volunteering her time at the Warrior Ranch Foundation helping to provide equine therapy for PTSD sufferers, as well as at the Women Marines Association.  Master Sergeant Resker is married and has one daughter.
