Richard Mueller | Legislator Nick Caracappa’s Honoree

Legislator Nick Caracappa is honored to nominate Mr. Richard (Rick) Mueller as the 4th Legislative Districts Healthcare Worker for 2021.

Rick Mueller and his family have resided in the Selden community since 1991.

Rick is the Administrative Manager of Radiology at New York University Langone Long Island in Mineola. NYU Langone is a 591 bed facility.

He started his career at this facility in 1986 as a NYS Licensed Registered X-Ray Technologist.

Because of his hard work and superior scheduling/management skills Rick ascended to this critical management position several years ago.

By mid-March 2021 NYU Langone was operating at 100% capacity caring for COVID-19 patients. At this time many employees began contracting the disease as well.  Every available bed was filled. The pandemic forced Hospital Administration to construct, staff and open two (2) massive field tents to absorb the sick and went so far as to convert conference rooms into the much needed isolation COVID-19 units as well.

Mr. Mueller credits the entire hospital staff at all levels for pulling together tighter than ever before to provide direct patient care at a time when patients and staff needed it most.

It is for these reasons and so many more that Legislator Nick Caracappa proudly nominates Richard Mueller.
