Dr. Matthew Goldman and Registered Nurse Samantha Carrieri as the Healthcare Heroes for the 16th Legislative District.  Dr. Goldman and Nurse Carrieri have been married for 6 years and have a 3 year old son. They both work in Emergency Medicine.

During Covid:

Dr. Matthew Goldman and Samantha Carrieri, RN have been working on the frontlines of healthcare for years, but COVID-19 was an unprecedented time for both of them. Being in the Emergency Department caring for the critically ill and injured is something they expected before beginning their careers, it’s why they chose this path, but a global pandemic never crossed their minds. During the pandemic, they both worked countless shifts caring for patients with COVID-19 and watching those who couldn’t be saved pass away. It took a physical and emotional toll on every single healthcare provider, and it’s something many in the healthcare field still struggle with every day. As a couple, Matthew and Samantha are grateful for the support of their colleagues and thankful to have each other during this extremely challenging time.

When selected to receive this honor, Samantha and Matthew shared that “being in this profession is like having an automatic family who rely on each other in so many ways, together we have seen the absolute worst. I believe we are all assisting one another in the emotional recovery from this pandemic.”
