Thomas Doyle | Legislator Nick Caracappa's Honoree

Thomas Doyle has been a resident of Lake Grove since 2003, where he and his wife Monica, of 22 years, raised three children, Stephanie, 30 years old, Alexandra,18 years old who graduates from Centereach HS this June, and TJ, 16 years old. Tom was an 18-year veteran of NYC, with both NYPD and FDNY before retiring from the FDNY in 2013 due to a WTC 9/11 related illness from the rescue and recovery efforts while responding with the NYPD on 9/11/01, from the first 72 hours and on for months after, before joining the FDNY. 

Tom has also been an active Volunteer Firefighter/EMT for the Centereach Fire Department since April 2006, and a publicly elected Fire Commissioner of the Centereach Fire District since 2015. 

While still employed by the FDNY, Tom decided to continue his passion for public service after graduating as a Registered Nurse in 2010 starting as a Pediatric RN working for PM Pediatric Care in Selden, taking care of the children in our community since September 2011. In 2022, Tom graduated with his Master of Science as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Stony Brook University and still works at PM Pediatric Care as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Selden and Massapequa offices. He has also recently started employment as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Cohen’s Children-Northwell Pediatrics in Islandia.

Tom has dedicated his spare time to his family and the community by coaching his son Alex’s travel soccer team through Middle Country Children’s Soccer for the past 6 years, and his youngest son TJ’s travel baseball team, LI Mudcats for the past 8 years. Tom has served on the Board of Directors for Selden-Centereach-3 Village baseball league as the Safety Coordinator and Treasurer over the years, where he made a conscious effort to train all the baseball and soccer coaches, for both leagues, and the Board of Directors in CPR/AED and First Aid to help keep our children safe while on the fields.
