Captain Julie C. Alfredson is the Commander of the 106th Maintenance Squadron at F.S. Gabreski, New York Air National Guard Base, Westhampton Beach, N.Y. In her position, she leads by providing generation and back shop maintenance and advises on technical matters relating to aircraft and equipment.
Captain Alfredson enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 2007 as a Security Forces Defender. During this time, she served in multiple capacities to include law enforcement and nuclear deterrence security. In March of 2013, Captain Alfredson transferred from Active Duty Air Force to the Air National Guard where she continued to serve as a Defender. In August 2017, she received her commissioning through the Total Force Officer Training at Maxwell AFB, AL to serve as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer where she ensured the availability and sustainment of 5 HC-130 and 6 HH60 aircraft Captain Alfredson was instrumental in the state’s aircraft mission conversion from the HC130 P/N to the HC130J and the acquisition of Operational Loss Replacement HH60 helicopters. Prior to her current position, Captain Alfredson was assigned as the Director of Inspections, 106 RQW, Gabreski ANGB, Westhampton Beach, NY where she implemented and directed wing Inspector General inspection activities in support of the Commander’s Inspection Program and provided policy guidance, procedures, planning and direction for wing implementation of the Air Force Inspection System.
Over the course of her career, she has frequently deployed to multiple locations in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and INHERENT RESOLVE. Most prominently where she taught at the Camp Taji Police academy and as a police transition team member, with the 732d Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron’s detachment 3 and partnered with Iraqi police to enhance law enforcement capabilities for more than half of Baghdad and its surrounding areas while responsible for six million Iraqi citizens.
