Legislator Flotteron Recognizes East Islip Resident Who Earned Eagle Scout

Eagle Scout Camlet

I recognized Eagle Scout John William Camlet from East Islip at his Court of Honor at Timber Point Elementary School, the 78th Eagle Scout of Troop 205 of Great River.

Camlet’s scouting experiences include being a Crew Member for the 2017 Florida Sea Base Trip in the Florida Keys, where he and his crew sailed for a week over school break. He was also a summer camper for six seasons at the Boy Scout Camp Wakpominee in Ft. Ann, NY, and later was a Camp Counselor. His Service Project was building and installing four planters and two benches in the courtyard of the East Islip High School.

He graduated with Honors from East Islip High School and now attends SUNY New Paltz where he is on the Dean’s List. In addition to excelling academically he has been a devoted volunteer in his community, collecting food and needed items to help the homeless.

“John is one of the finest and most accomplished young man who has been an exemplary example for others,” said Legislator Flotteron. “I have no doubt that he will continue to excel at whatever he sets his mind to in the future.”
