Legislator Kennedy, was joined by Frank Rivera and Suffolk County Legislators Rudy Sunderman, Sarah Anker, and William Spencer as she hosted a Press Conference to raise Sarcoidosis awareness.
Legislator Kennedy’s resolution, which passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, authorizes the purple illumination of the H. Lee Dennison Building on April 13th of each year for Sarcoidosis Awareness. Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory disease that affects individuals across America. There is no known cure for Sarcoidosis, and it is difficult to diagnose.
“Sarcoidosis of Long Island is so honored to have Leslie Kennedy and all the other co-sponsors, Legislators Spencer, Anker and Sunderman in showing their continued support and commitment to help the over 5000 Sarcoidosis patients in Suffolk County find a cure for this rare disease called Sarcoidosis” said Frank Rivera, the CEO of Sarcoidosis of Long Island is both a patient and an advocate. Through his work raising awareness there were a total of eighty seven buildings throughout the United States that were illuminated in purple, including the One World Trade Center, two buildings in Canada, including the CN Tower and one in Dubai.
