Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly recently attended a meeting of the Student Council at William E DeLuca Jr. Elementary School in North Babylon where he spoke with students about the importance of representation in government.
The fourth and fifth-grade students were elected by their peers to represent them on student-related matters at their school. Superintendent of North Babylon Schools Glen Eschbach even meets with them several times a year. Legislator Donnelly answered questions about his job as a County Legislator, talked about the different levels of government and reminded the students that elected officials are always “responsible to the people.”
“It was a pleasure talking to these young students about the importance of government engagement,” said Legislator Donnelly “I am impressed with their knowledge and passion for government, and I am confident that the students of DeLuca Elementary School are well represented.”
