On Sunday, April 14th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony at Mount Sinai High School to honor Troop 1776’s newest Eagle Scouts, Michael Muroff, Joseph Snider, Joseph Dibiasi, Shane Bombace, Joshua Louser, and Gavin Code.
“The work of our scouts enhance the quality of life for residents across our community. Through their hard work, dedication, and commitment to scouting, these six young men have proven themselves to be extraordinary leaders. I congratulate them and wish them continued success in their future endeavors,” said Legislator Anker.
To attain the rank of Eagle Scout, the following projects were completed: Michael restored the front door of the William Miller House, a historical colonial home from the 1720s. Shane built two picnic tables for the Port Jefferson EMS, Joshua built an event sign for the Tesla Science Center, and Joseph DiBiasi built a porch for the Miller Place/Mount Sinai Historical Society. Joseph Snider built a dedication to veterans at the American Legion Wilson Ritch Post 432. Gavin built a wooden playbill display case for Mount Sinai High School.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can receive, and requires the scout to earn 21 merit badges, complete a community service project, and undergo a lengthy review process. For more information about the Boy Scouts of American and the rank of Eagle Scout, please visit www.scouting.org.
