MIDDLE ISLAND, NY – On Saturday, May 11th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended Longwood Day and Relay for Life at Longwood High School in Middle Island. The family fun day of Longwood Pride included local resource information, games, activities, and arts and crafts by civic groups, student organizations, and other vendors.
In addition to Longwood Day, the district hosted Relay for Life at the high school football field. The opening ceremony and the “Power of Purple” lap celebrated survivors of cancer and honored those who have lost their battle. The event was sponsored by the American Cancer Society to raise awareness and funds to support cancer research and treatment.
“I would like to thank the Longwood community for its advocacy and commitment to supporting our children and those battling cancer,” said Legislator Anker.
