Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly recently honored outgoing League of Women Voters of New York (LWV) First Vice President Judie Gorenstein at her retirement ceremony at the Northport Yacht Club. Ms. Gorenstein served LWV 15 years in various positions
At the May 2 event, Legislator Donnelly presented Ms. Gorenstein, a Melville resident who resides in his legislative district, with a County Proclamation, lauding her for engaging voters of all ages. Ms. Gorenstein became a volunteer with the LWV of Huntington after retirement from her job as a social worker and became President of the Huntington LWV Chapter in 2008, a position she served in until June 2017. Since 2010, Ms. Gorenstein has been on the state board as Citizen/Education Youth Program Director and in 2015 was elected to First Vice President of LWVNYS and Voter Service Chair. In recognition of all that she has done for the community, she was selected as the Legislative District 17 Woman of Distinction in 2014.
“Through her dedication, leadership, and commitment to honoring the work of our sacred right to vote, Judie Gorenstein is a shining example of someone who selflessly gives back in everything she does,” said Legislator Donnelly. “It is a privilege to honor Judie Gorenstein and I wish her the best of luck in her retirement.”
