PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY – On Saturday, May 11th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the Community Festival of Health, Hope, and Healing hosted by Hope House Ministries and Families in Support of Treatment (FIST) at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station. The event included workshops and resources to promote mindfulness and wellness, such as yoga, meditation, music, and art.
“I would like to thank Hope House Ministries and FIST for the tremendous work they do to help guide those who are struggling or in need,” said Legislator Anker. “The festival provides a great opportunity to teach the community healthy coping skills and tools for wellness in their everyday lives.”
“Our present technology and stress-filled environment takes a toll on our mental and physical health,” said Claudia Capie Friszell, recovery advocate and Hope House and FIST volunteer. “Hope House Ministries partnered with FIST and the Comsewogue School District to invite our community to participate in a day filled with music, movement, and art to experience the benefits of a focus on health, hope, and healing. Balance is key to individual well-being and our community as a whole.”
