Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta Recognizes Local Girl Scouts at Gold Award Ceremony
(Smithtown, NY)… Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta attended the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County’s Gold Award Ceremony, where several scouts from his district were recognized for achieving the Gold Award. This is the highest honor one can achieve in the Girl Scouts. By identifying a need in the community and completing a project that fulfills it, a scout obtains the Gold Award. Projects ranged from designing and building bat houses to install at a town park to help eliminate the number of mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus to making drawstring bags and filling them with personal hygiene items to donate to the Children of Boy’s Town. “These young women who received this award exemplify the principles of leadership, character and public service that are inherent in scouting and life and I congratulate them, their parents and scout leaders. This is a tremendous accomplishment and I applaud each one of them,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.
