Legislators Sam Gonzalez and Susan A. Berland Recognize Heroic Suffolk County Police Officer

Police Officer Kevin Bell

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. – At the Suffolk County Legislature’s July 16th General Meeting, Legislators Sam Gonzalez (D-Brentwood) and Susan A. Berland (D-Dix Hills) presented a proclamation to Suffolk County Police Officer Kevin Bell of the 3rd Precinct in recognition of his heroism in the line of duty.

On June 25, 2019, Officer Bell was dispatched to an emergency call for an adult male who had been hit by a machine inside a warehouse in Brentwood. When he arrived on the scene, Officer Bell found the victim laying on the floor with an injury to his upper leg and suffering from a significant amount of blood loss. Officer Bell retrieved his department-issued tourniquet and applied it to the upper portion of the victim’s right thigh. Due to Officer Bell’s rapid response, recognition of the victim’s injury and the immediate and appropriate medical attention, the victim is expected to make a full recovery.

“Officer Bell’s immediate action demonstrates that he is well trained and possesses the confidence to act decisively in an emergency. Suffolk County is very fortunate to have Police Officers like Kevin Bell serving the community,” said Legislator Gonzalez.

Legislator Susan A. Berland said: “Police Officer Kevin Bell’s quick response and lifesaving actions are the epitome of what our Police Department provides for Suffolk County. I was proud to honor his heroism and thank him for his dedicated service to our community.”
