HAUPPAUGE, NY – Starting November 12th, Suffolk County Office for the Aging will begin reviewing applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). The federally funded program provides utility assistance to low-income New Yorkers to help cover home energy costs.
“Winter is nearing and home energy costs are rising,” said Legislator Anker. “I’d like to thank the Office for the Aging for providing our seniors assistance with their HEAP applications. Everyone deserves access to warmth during the cold winter.”
Applicants who wish to submit a HEAP application must be:
- 60 or older, or
- Under 60 and receiving Social Security Disability, or
- Under 60 and receiving Supplemental Security Income Code A
