Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly recently joined Long Island Cares, Inc. in recognizing and honoring Daniel Thompson of Deer Park student for his year-long tremendous pet food drive where he collected 5,411 pounds of pet food for Baxter’s Pet Pantry of Long Island Cares. The student was named a Long Island Cares / Baxter’s Pet Pantry Outstanding Student and received a County Proclamation from Legislator Donnelly for his efforts.
Legislator Donnelly’s office also participated as part of the non-profit’s Legislative Pet Food Drive, raising 656lbs thanks to the generosity of community residents. Baxter’s Pet Pantry, operated by Long Island Cares, Inc. in partnership with the Animal Relief Fund, is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Over the past decade, the pantry has distributed nearly 2 million pounds of food and supplies helping families keep their pets.
“I commend Daniel for his extraordinary pet food drive,” said Legislator Donnelly. “It will go a long way in helping many families in our community care that are in need themselves make sure that their best friends do not have to go hungry.”
