Suffolk County Legislators Tom Donnelly and William “Doc” Spencer joined local residents of all ages for a great day of food, crafts, games and music on Saturday, October 12 at the Annual Family Fun Day sponsored by the Huntington Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and held at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Huntington Station.
Under the direction of President Glenda Jackson and First Vice President/Program Chair Betty Miller, NCNW is a non-for-profit organization whose goals are to encourage educational success, address health issues and promote social justice. In addition to all of the free fun activities offered at the Family Fun Day, local not-for profit organizations distributed and shared educational information about their services. Ms. Jackson served as announcer and MC at the well-attended event and some children attended in costume to get their Halloween started early while
“While there are many festivals and events this time of year, the NCNW Annual Family Fun Day is unique in that it is specifically designed to meet and serve the needs of the local residents in a fun and entertaining way,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I applaud Ms. Jackson and Ms. Miller for organizing such a great event and thank them for all they do for the community.”
