Long Island Blue Star Mothers, NY #6 is seeking donations for its annual holiday box packing that will ultimately ship 200 boxes filled with toiletries, clothes, canned goods and more to servicemen and women overseas and Legislator Tom Donnelly is proud to have his office serve as an official drop-off location for this heartwarming initiative.
Among the items the organization is most seeking are socks, disposable razors, oral care products, gum, beef jerky, canned food with flip tops, oatmeal, fruit snacks, granola and protein bars, puzzle books and playing cards, as well as anything else that may bring our service members the comforts of home. Goods can be dropped off at Legislator Donnelly’s district office, 130 West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, Monday through Friday, 9 am – 4 pm, until November 26.
“The holiday season is an important time of year to show our deployed military that we care and thank them for their service,” said Beth Taylor-Goldberg, 2nd Vice President of LI Blue Star Mothers, NY #6. “We hope everyone can find it in their heart to donate items so our heroes can enjoy a special holiday box to remind them of home.”
The Long Island Chapter of the National Blue Star Mothers Organization, NY #6, was founded in 2009 and is made up of “Mothers who have Sons and/or Daughters who are currently serving, or have served in any Branch of the U.S. Military. Supporting each other, our children and our families.”
“As the holiday season approaches, we should all be reminded of the great sacrifice that the men and women of our armed services make every day,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I am proud to support this wonderful cause and I encourage all those who can to come down to my office and donate. It will make sure our sons and daughters in the military feel a little closer to home for the the holidays.”
