Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly recently went “back to school,” joining Signal Hill Elementary School in Dix Hills for “Community Readers Day.” The reading event on Thursday, January 21 was held in conjunction with the annual state-wide Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program.
After being greeted by Signal Hill Principal Maryann Fasciana and Assistant Principal Erin Papadopulous, Legislator Donnelly, other local elected officials and community leaders were escorted to their “assigned” classrooms where the students were eagerly waiting. Legislator Donnelly was the guest reader for the fourth graders in Ms. Lindsay Laguerre’s class. After a discussion with the students about his job, Legislator Donnelly read “The Invisible Boy” by Trudy Ludwig which was then followed by a lively exchange about the book.
“I thank the Signal Hill community for again inviting me to be a part of this wonderful reading event,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I was impressed by how enthusiastic and engaged the students were and applaud everyone who helped make it exciting and educational for all.”
