How to Submit Public Comment In Person or Remotely

The Suffolk County Legislature is resuming in-person public attendance and in-person public comment for legislative meetings.

Safety Protocols for In-Person Attendance: In accordance with county and state COVID-19 safety protocols, members of the public who wish to enter the legislature building will undergo temperature checks. Visitors who are vaccinated against COVID-19 and who are willing to provide proof of vaccination, if requested, will not be required to wear a mask while inside the building. Those who are not vaccinated or who do not wish to disclose their vaccination status will be required to wear a mask at all times while inside the building. Inside the legislature auditorium, there will be designated seating areas for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

Remote testimony options, including Zoom and voicemail, continue to be offered as well.

To weigh in on resolutions and issues being considered by legislators, please choose from the following options to submit your testimony:

Providing Public Comment for the August 30th – September 2, 2021 Committee Meetings of the Suffolk County Legislature:

Attend in Person: Attend a meeting at the William H. Rogers Legislature Building and speak at the beginning of any committee meeting during its public portion.

Speak via Zoom: Speak over Zoom at the beginning of any committee meeting during its public portion. Sign up at www.scnylegislature.us/CommitteePublicPortion.

Record Testimony Over the Phone: Parties can call (631) 853-3685 and leave a three-minute message about topics of concern and specific resolutions being considered by lawmakers. Residents should include their name as well as whether they are addressing a specific committee or speaking about a specific resolution.

Send Testimony By Email: Comments may be submitted in writing by emailing Clerk.Legislature@suffolkcountyny.gov.

Send Testimony by Regular Mail: Comments may be mailed to the attention of the Clerk’s Office at the Suffolk County Legislature, P.O. Box 6100, Hauppauge, NY 11788.

Providing Public Comment for the September 9, 2021 General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature:


September 9, 2021  General Meeting | Riverhead Auditorium| 2:00PM | No remote appearances will be permitted.


Due to technology limitations in the Riverside auditorium, the County Legislature’s Public Hearings will be held fully in person on September 9 at 2:00 pm. No remote appearances will be permitted.  In accordance with county and state COVID-19 safety protocols, members of the public who wish to provide in person testimony may do so after having a temperature check upon entry into our building. Visitors who are vaccinated against COVID-19 and who are willing to provide proof of vaccination, if requested, will not be required to wear a mask while inside our building. Those who are not vaccinated or who do not wish to disclose their vaccination status will be required to wear a mask at all times while inside the building. Inside the Maxine Postal Auditorium, there will be designated seating areas for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. The Clerk will accept written testimony via mail to the Clerk’s Office at the Suffolk County Legislature, William H. Rogers Building, 725 Veterans Memorial Highway, Smithtown NY 11787, or email to clerk.legislature@suffolkcountyny.gov, as well as recorded voice testimony at (631) 853-3685 until the end of the General Meeting on September 9th. Written and email testimony submissions will be attached to the minutes of this meeting as Addendum A. A transcription of the recorded voice testimony which was submitted will be attached to the minutes of this meeting as Addendum B.
