"Community FoodDrive Delivers Big for the residents of the 8th Legislative
District”
Almost every Saturday since the middle ofMarch, the 8th Legislative District has held a food and pet food
drive. To date, the food drive has collected over 1,500 items of food and petfood. Items such as pasta, peanut butter, water, toilet paper, soap and various
snacks were among the items that were donated from anonymous donors within thecommunity.
Since social distancing is in place, the office has instructed the donors toput their donations into a box the office provided outside the district office;
never knowing who is donating what. “I want to say thank you to everyonewho has donated” said Legislator Piccirillo. “To those who have stepped up in
our community, know that your donation went to very thankful seniors, veteransand community members in need; you have made a big difference in so many lives”
the Legislator added. Every item that is donated has gone to feeding residentsin our community. “I am humbled to represent such a generous constituency” said
Piccirillo.
After the food is collected, the nonperishables are wiped down twice before
they are delivered to the recipients. To date, the Legislative office hasdistributed more than 75 care packages to residents across the 8th
Legislative District. In addition to making a small contribution to multiplefood pantries. Legislator Piccirillo along with a few Volunteers have been in
the community delivering these packages to those who request them. “Residentswho receive these packages have been very thankful; many who are seniors have
not left the house in over a month” stated Piccirillo. “The community reallyhas each other’s backs” he added.
