(BRENTWOOD, NY) – At the Suffolk County Legislature’s December 17th General Meeting Legislators Sam Gonzalez (D-Brentwood) and Susan A. Berland (D-Dix Hills) honored the Brentwood Boys Varsity Soccer Team for winning the 2019 New York State AA Boys Soccer Championship with an undefeated 22-0 record.
The Brentwood Boys Varsity Soccer Team started No. 30 in the preseason and ended ranked the top Boys Public School Team in the nation by SIMA FAB 50, USA Today, and by United Soccer Coaches Polls. The team’s season included victories over Top 25-ranked Commack and state tournament wins over Massapequa and Ossining, culminating in a 4-0 defeat of Fairport in the New York State final.
Head Coach, Ron Eden and Assistant Coaches Victor Farfan, Joel Iglesias, and Rich Castello were also recognized for not only leading the team to victory, but also instilling the value of teamwork and sportsmanship. Coach Eden has been with the Brentwood Boys Soccer Team for 40 years; serving as Assistant Coach for 16 seasons, and Head Coach for the last 24 seasons. During Coach Eden’s time at the helm, Brentwood has made 10 state tournament appearances with four titles.
