Deputy Presiding Officer Kara Hahn today recognized entering Newfield High School senior Logan Mazer for his completion of the Suffolk County Legislature’s 2020 Page Program. Mazer, a resident of Coram, was selected by Legislator Hahn for the intensive 11-week program that provides high school seniors and university level students with a unique perspective on the inner workings of the legislative process and the public interactions that define the role of an elected representative.
During the course of the program, Pages lean the fundamentals of providing legislative research, expanding a legislator’s social media presence and engaging with residents with Fridays reserved for workshops and lectures on leadership and government. Traditionally, pages enrolled in the program serve two days per week in the district office of the legislator to whom he or she is paired and one in the Legislature’s Smithtown office. However, due to COVID-19 precautions, all meetings were held remotely this year.
