Wyandanch, NY – West Babylon resident Dylan Peck was recently recognized for his participation in the Suffolk County Legislature’s 2019-2020 Distinguished Youth Award program.
The Distinguished Youth Award program aims to encourage our next generation of leaders by promoting and recognizing achievement, initiative and service in Suffolk County residents between the ages of 13 and 18. Participants select from four areas of focus (Volunteer Service, Personal Development, Exploration and Physical Fitness) and work with local officials over the course of a year to lay out their plans and goals towards earning either a Gold, Silver or Bronze Distinguished Youth Award medal.
Dylan received the Bronze Award for his efforts in volunteering, donating his time as a tutor, in his library and at a local soup kitchen. Dylan also volunteered with the “Chess Buddies” and helped others learn the basics of this game of strategy.
“I’m extremely proud of Dylan and all of his efforts over the past year,” said Legislator Jason Richberg. “Dylan didn’t let the pandemic get in his way. He not only completed this program, but put in the work to earn a Bronze Award for his volunteerism. Dylan Peck and all of this year’s participants in our Distinguished Youth Award program have bright futures ahead of them.”
Registration forms are now being accepted for the 2020-2021 program and can be found by visiting https://www.scnylegislature.us/896/Distinguished-Youth-Award.
