Legislator Steven J. Flotteron joined Seatuck Environmental Association, First Baptist Church in Bay Shore and local organizations, including several boy scout troops secured by the Legislator, for one of several clean-ups of Penataquit Creek.
Over the past few years, Seatuck has worked hard to clean-up the creek, removing harmful invasive plants, perform extensive biological surveys and promote native trout. Now with the help of a NYS Department of Environmental Conservation “Trees for Tribs” grant, they are beginning to plant native stream-side plants to prevent pollution and erosion.
“These volunteer group clean-ups and planting will increase habitat for wildlife, enhancing this public space and restore the creek for all to enjoy for years to come,” said Legislator Flotteron.
