Selden New York- Today, Nicholas J. Caracappa took the oath of office to serve as Suffolk County Legislator in the Fourth District. Caracappa is completing the term of office previously held by Tom Muratore, who passed away suddenly in September 2020.
Caracappa, a lifelong resident of Selden, is the father of 5 children. He was a 34-year employee of the Suffolk County Water Authority, and served as President of the Utility Workers’ Union of America, AFL-CIO Local-393 for 14 years.
Nick’s employment and volunteer history demonstrates his total commitment to family, community and the hard working people he so proudly represents. Besides his time and experience with SCWA, his extensive resume includes:
- Former Utility Workers’ Union of America National Executive Board Member.
- Former Middle Country Central School District Trustee - 7 years.
- Vice President Selden/Centereach/Three Village Little League - 15 years.
- Volunteer at Ground Zero.
- Parent Teacher Association Member.
- Selden Civic Association Member.
Nick, in his own words looks forward to “rolling up his sleeves and getting to work.” He is ready to apply his vast experience and love for his community to serve as Legislator, following the legacy of his legislative predecessors, the late Tom Muratore, as well as his mother, the late Rose Caracappa to represent Suffolk County’s Fourth District*.
*The Fourth Legislative District is located in the Town of Brookhaven, which encompasses Farmingville, Selden, Centereach, the Brookhaven Town portion of Ronkonkoma and parts of Coram, Holbrook, Holtsville and Port Jefferson Station.
