MOUNT SINAI, NY – Suffolk County has officially acquired a 1.4 acre parcel adjacent to Chandler Estate County Park in Mount Sinai. The parcel was acquired through the unanimous passage of Introductory Resolution 1682-2020, co-sponsored by Legislator Sarah Anker, in a General Legislature Meeting. The legislation authorized the county to move forward in acquiring the property under the Suffolk County Drinking Water and Protection Program for Environmental Protection.
I am pleased that we were able to move forward in acquiring this important parcel,
said Legislator Anker. It will be a beautiful addition to the Chandler Estate County Park and it’s preservation from development will help us to continue to protect and preserve our precious groundwater.
Local community members sent correspondence through letters of support for the purchase of this property. For more information, please contact Legislator Anker’s office at 631-854-1600.
