Legislator Steven J. Flotteron made
a very special day possible for the Warrior Ranch in Calverton. He brought
together more than 140 Boy Scouts from 24 troops across Suffolk County who
transformed the property. They completed many tasks that will help the
Ranch open for spring and summer horse therapy sessions for Veterans and First
Responders. Scouts of all ages worked together clearing brush and debris on 3.5
acres of the 6 acre property. Their hard work prepares the land to be graded
for a future outdoor arena, round pen and obstacle course for the horses. The
young volunteers also pulled nails from fence posts and painted an outside
cellar door red. They have another clean-up day planned for April.
Legislator Flotteron who
serves on the Sagtikos District of the Boy Scouts of America’s Suffolk
County Council, said, "This is an inspirational and heartwarming day.
Everybody came out for the community. We always want to see people helping
people."
