“Suffolk County Officials Announce Discounted
Green Key Cards for Healthcare Heroes”

On Wednesday June 9th, Suffolk County Legislator Anthony A. Piccirillo hosted a Press Conference at the West Sayville County Golf Course to announce a 50% reduction in price for Suffolk County Parks Green Key Cards, for Healthcare workers. Earlier this year, Legislator Piccirillo sponsored IR 11714 which gave Healthcare workers who reside in Suffolk County a reduced price for new Green Key Card purchases for a one year period ending April 30th 2022. This legislation aims to give back to those who went to work to help those who were critically sick; when the rest of the world was told to stay home.
“June is Healthcare Hero month in Suffolk County, and what a better way to celebrate than by giving back to our local Healthcare workers” said Legislator Piccirillo. “I was happy to have bipartisan support with this bill” added the freshman Legislator. The Press Conference was attended by a bipartisan group of Legislators who were all excited to show support for this program. In attendance for the Press Conference were Presiding Officer Rob Calarco, Legislator Tom Cilmi, Legislator Steve Flotteron, Legislator Jason Richberg, and Legislator Nick Caracappa. Also in attendance were Don McCay from the Suffolk County Parks Department and Cynthia Ruf from Long Island Community Hospital. Cynthia Ruf on behalf of Long Island Community Hospital showed her support and gratitude for the program; “This is so much more than a discount, it is a show of respect and appreciation for those who worked selflessly for their community members” said Cynthia Ruff. The Legislators each expressed their gratitude for the amazing work the healthcare community did throughout the pandemic as well as their hope that many healthcare workers would take this opportunity to explore the county parks and beaches. “This Green Key Card lets our healthcare workers access our beautiful county parks and beaches; this is a small gesture of thanks for the sacrifices our Healthcare Heroes have made throughout the covid-19 pandemic” said Legislator Piccirillo.
To acquire a discounted Suffolk County Green Key Card please bring a valid work identification to one of the locations where the cards are sold. Green Keys are sold year round at the following parks; Blydenburgh, Cathedral Pines, Indian Island, Sears Bellows, Smith Point, and West Sayville Parks operation office. “I hope our Healthcare Heroes will utilize this discounted Green Key Card to finally have a well-deserved break from the madness of this pandemic” said the Legislator.
