HAUPPAUGE, NY  On Tuesday, July 27th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo in thanking three Long Island first responders who assisted in the delivery of a baby in a Rocky Point home in June. Suffolk County Police Officer Jason Famoso and Rocky Point Fire Department Paramedic Kim Pokorny were both presented with proclamations from Legislator Anker at the general meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature in honor of the role they played in the safe delivery of the baby. Rocky Point Fire Department Paramedic Nick Pobat was unable to be present at the meeting but will also receive a proclamation from Legislator Anker.

Thank you to Officer Famoso, Kim Pokorny and Nick Pobat for their heroic efforts that helped bring a beautiful new person into this world, said Legislator Anker.

I want to personally thank 7th Precinct Officer Jason Famoso and Rocky Point Fire Department Paramedics Kim Pokorny and Nick Pobat who helped to deliver a child, said Legislator Piccirillo. It is these selfless acts that our first responders and police officers do with little fanfare. Thank you for your service and quick actions. We salute you.

Last month, a 911 call reported that a Rocky Point resident, Courtney Montanez, was in labor inside her home. Three first responders, 7th Precinct Suffolk County Police Officer Jason Famoso, and Rocky Point Fire Department Paramedics, Kim Pokorny and Nick Pobat, responded to the 911 call. Together, Officer Famoso, Kim and Nick assisted Courtney in her delivery and they all welcomed Christian Montanez into the world at 7:47 AM. Courtney and her son were then safely transported to Saint Charles Hospital and are currently doing well.
