August 24, 2021 – On Saturday August 21, 2021 Suffolk County Legislator Leslie Kennedy District 12 hosted a blood drive with New York Blood Center in the Smith Haven Mall. This blood drive collected 34 pints of blood which can save up to 102 lives. An average adult has about ten to twelve pints of blood in their bodies and each donation is approximately one pint of blood. Healthy adults are able to donate red blood cells every 56 days and platelets as few as seven days apart, but a maximum of 24 times a year. Please consider donating at a blood drive near you to help save lives during this critical shortage of blood!
