November 12, 2021 - Although the 2021 Columbus Day Parade was cancelled due to inclement weather, Suffolk County Legislator Leslie Kennedy was able to recognize one of the Grand Marshalls on Thursday November 11th. Joining with Order of the Sons and Daughters of Italy from throughout Suffolk and Nassau, the Legislator recognized Cavaliere Josephine Maietta. Ms. Maietta, who is an instructor of Italian language at Hofstra University. She has been the sponsor of the annual Italian Experience Festival, and she serves as President of the Association of Italian American Educators (AIAE) in New York. This recognition is well deserved. On hand to congratulate the honoree at the Columbus Lodge were former New York State OSDIA President Carolyn Reres, Sabrina Savino, current President of the Constantino Brumidi Lodge and Suffolk County Comptroller John Kennedy.
