Lindenhurst, NY: On Sunday, December 12th, the Belfast Gastropub hosted the latest edition of their “Pushback Sunday” with former United States Congressman Pete King! “Pushback Sunday,” coined by Belfast owner Dave Crowe, is a weekly patriotic display where restaurant goers head outside to sing the National Anthem prior to the start of the 1 o'clock National Football League game.
The display on the twelfth followed the official announcement of the Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Day Parade, in which Pete King will serve as Grand Marshal. For the singing of the National Anthem, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey introduced Josie Grande of Lindenhurst High School, who wowed the crowd with her beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. There was also a solemn moment of silence for the victims of the recent deadly tornadoes in the Midwest.
A number of local elected officials joined in this patriotic turnout, as well as the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, Lindenhurst Knights of Columbus, Lindenhurst Fire Department, and former Women’s World Super Middleweight Boxing Champion Alicia Napoleon-Espinosa.
