Legislator Bontempi Urges Residents to Donate Essential Items to the People of Ukraine

Legislator Bontempi speaks at a press conference calling for donations for the people of Ukraine.

Huntington: At a press conference held on March 3rd, Legislator Stephanie Bontempi (Centerport) joined with other elected officials, members of the greater Huntington community and various volunteer organizations to bring awareness to the plight of those living in Ukraine.  In the days since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, it became very clear to the world that a humanitarian crisis was developing in full force.  Everyday items typically taken for granted are now essential to the well-being of those forced to shelter in place or flea their homeland.

“Ukraine has been unjustly and tragically attacked by a madman and his military forces.  Democracy and the freedoms that it ensures are under direct attack and we must not stand idly by.  All of us can make a meaningful donation of everyday supplies to help those suffering from this injustice survive,” said Bontempi.  “Our show of support in the form of donated supplies, coupled with our messages of solidarity will resonate throughout the world and encourage others to do likewise,” added Bontempi.

Legislator Bontempi’s district office (224 Wall Street, Suite 303, Huntington, NY 11743) will be collecting supplies through March 4th and will have them delivered to the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge where they will begin their journey to Ukraine.   Legislator Bontempi will notify the residents of the 18th District if and when additional opportunities to donate are arranged.
