Legislator Esteban files bill to permanently hold the reduced recording/filing fees

Legislator Manuel Esteban Sr.

Legislator Esteban’s bill will permanently hold the reduction of the recording or filing fees to two hundred dollars ($200) in the Suffolk County Clerk’s Office.  The original bill that was approved allowed these fees to convert back to the latter amount of three hundred dollars ($300) after 3 years.   This bill will not allow it to convert back; it will hold the amount to two hundred dollars ($200).

“This is just the beginning, it is my goal to find ways to lower or eliminate fees that have been added or increased over the years on the backs of our Suffolk County residents. This has been a burden on our residents and something needs to be done now,” said Legislator Esteban.

The legislation (IR 1135-2022) has a public hearing set for March 29th at 2 pm before the full Legislature at the William H. Rogers Building in the Rose Caracappa Auditorium, Hauppauge, New York.
