Huntington: On Sunday, March 13th, Legislator Stephanie Bontempi (Centerport) joined with fellow revelers from near and far at the 2022 Huntington St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  This year, people were thinking about the wonderful smell of hot pretzels – rather than a nasty virus – in the air.  As residents handed out hot dogs and waived at the passing marchers, the return to normalcy was justification enough to celebrate.

“The Huntington St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a fixture not only in Huntington, but in Suffolk County.  The parade was a very welcome sight, as it was celebrated in a traditional manner without the restrictions associated with the pandemic,” said Bontempi.

The Huntington St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the oldest and largest of its kind on Long Island.  Last year’s parade was cancelled out of an abundance of caution due to concerns related to COVID-19.  With the parade’s return, it is hoped that it not only signals the close proximity of spring’s beginning, but the end of the pandemic as well.

“Seeing the smiling faces and crowds of happy neighbors, friends and visitors is a big part of the occasion that was missing for too long.  I hope everyone has a happy and healthy St. Patrick’s Day,” added Bontempi.
