On February 19th, Trustee Kelly Dennis of the Shinnecock Nation coordinated with Legislator Fleming to conduct a NARCAN training session for public safety personnel of the Shinnecock Nation and distributed life-saving NARCAN kits. The goal was to equip staff with NARCAN kits and provide guidance in identifying an overdose. Approximately fifteen members of the Nation attended and met Sergeant Bill Weick who led the training and took questions from participants. The goal of the program was to promote a collaborative forum to share County services, open dialogue, and ensure the safety of our greater east end community. “Kelly Dennis and my office coordinated this event so we can provide this critically important training that truly saves lives,” commented Leg. Fleming.
