Last month in honor of Woman’s History Month, Legislator Piccirillo honored Allison Karppi of Bayport as the 8th Legislative District’s 2022 Woman of Distinction.
Alison Karppi is a lifelong resident of Suffolk County. She has spent nearly three decades committed to serving others in the areas of Housing, Human Services, and Community Development.
Ms. Karppi’s life is dedicated to family, the church and serving others.She has taken her socially conscious organizational skills to assist her Church Community at Our Lady of Snow in Blue Point by volunteering for Parish Outreach Programs, organizing church fundraisers and providing home aide services to the homebound sick, elderly, and disabled parishioners.
Allison has spent her career serving underserved and under resourced Communities in the Town of Islip at the Islip Housing Authority, Islip Community Development Agency and at the Town of Brookhaven in the Department of Housing and Community Development, where she currently serves as the Commissioner under Supervisor Edward P. Romaine.
She has successfully navigated the complicated world of affordable housing from the site selection process to the procurement and bidding process, for housing construction and rehabilitation projects. Helping families achieve the American Dream is near and dear to Ms. Karppi’s heart.
Ms. Karppi is the daughter of Carol and George Ringer and is one of their six children. She is a devoted wife and the proud mother of two sons.
