Legislator Steven J. Flotteron recognized East Islip Historical Society on their 30th Anniversary. The Society was founded by a small group of concerned individuals, who recognized the timeliness and need for an organized effort to begin researching, collecting, and preserving the unique history of the East Islip area and encompassing neighbors Great River and Islip Terrace. This history is available for students, researchers, scholars and future generations to view in the Gatehouse at Brookwood Hall, 50 Irish Lane, Islip.
