In the month of March 2023 Suffolk County held their inaugural Irish American Heritage Celebration at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge, in this regard, Philomena B. Reynolds is being honored as an Irish American Person of Distinction in the Fourth Legislative District. Philomena B. Reynolds, immigrated to the United States of America from her hometown of Loughrea in County Galway, Ireland in January of 1936 at 17 years of age, resided in Selden over thirty years. Philomena was married to Michael J. Reynolds an Engineer who passed away in 1998, together they had three children, Martina, Michael and Terrence. Philomena B. Reynolds, Is actively involved with the Selden Civic Association, volunteers as a piano player at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center, as well as a faithful parishioner of St. Margret’s of Scotland R.C. Church in Selden. Amazing fact, Philomena Without hesitation, raced to her neighbor's home when she received an urgent call for help, and shortly after getting there, called 911, immediately following, delivered a beautiful baby boy, and cut the umbilical cord while waiting for first responders to arrive. Philomena has always fostered strong leadership qualities and comradery within her community, as well as exhibits a tireless dedication for her family, friends and neighbors."
