Last month, Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning held a walking tour led by Village Mayor Maria Moore along Main Street, Westhampton Beach, to see the final results of an 8-month roadway reconstruction effort from 2019 - 2020, which incorporated best practices and innovative downtown revitalization strategies, including a raised crosswalk, curb bulb-outs, narrower travel lanes and wider sidewalks, new pedestrian lighting, and permeable pavers.
Participants included Citizens Advisory Panel members, Legislator Bridget Fleming and Suffolk County Economic Development staff, including Jonathan Keys, Director of Downtown and Transit-Oriented Development. The Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization Panel was pleased to support this project with their 2017 award of $100,000 for the pedestrian lighting elements. The work done is a great example of County, Town, and Village partnership.
