Legislator Manuel Esteban Sr. (R-16th L.D.), Legislator Stephanie Bontempi (R-18th L.D.) and Legislator Robert Trotta (R-13th L.D.) recently hosted a program focused on mental health, addiction and how they affect our youth. The “Breaking the Stigma” event was held at Northport Public Library. The presenters, John Venza, LCSW-R, LMHC and Gordon Gooding, LCSW, discussed how imperative it is to keep the lines of communication open and what signs to look for if you think someone may be suffering from addiction or mental illness. Sometimes we face obstacles in our daily lives and it is imperative that we all know that there are solutions and treatments to address these issues. Asking for help is the beginning of any sort of recovery process.
