Legislator Steven J. Flotteron was honored to recognize Cole Stassi, of Keiser University Men’s Lacrosse who was chosen as a nominee for the A.O. Duer Award, named in honor of the NAIA’s former executive secretary. This award has been annually presented since 1967 to a student athlete in any sport who has excelled in scholarship, character, and citizenship, which he has performed exemplary in all categories.
Mr. Stassi’s character is a rare combination of academic brilliance complemented by strong social skills, self-motivation, and a determination to make a positive difference in the world. Having just graduated 4/2023 Magna Cum Laude, with a 3.75 GPA, 43from Keiser University while successfully balancing his athletic career in Lacrosse achieving Keiser Men’s Lacrosse All Time Record Holder for Points and Assists among many other awards and recognized achievements. He inspires his teammates with intensity which led to winning the 2023 NAIA championship and his own award of Academic All American Selection 2022 & 2023. His plans include obtaining his master’s in Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology.
