MOUNT SINAI, NY – On Saturday, November 25th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined hundreds of students, parents, and faculty members at Mt. Sinai’s 7th Annual Turkey Trot 5K and Fun Run. Coordinated by the high school’s Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Club and the Class of 2018, the event raised $7,500 to be donated to Holiday Magic.
“There are many who are less fortunate than ourselves. Through the hard work and dedication of the students and faculty who organized the Turkey Trot, needy families in our community will receive help during this holiday season,” said Legislator Anker.
Holiday Magic works with more than 20 Long Island not-for-profit organizations to assist in sheltering and providing resources to homeless children and their families. The money raised at the Mt. Sinai Turkey Trot event will help Holiday Magic purchase gifts for needy children, which will be handed-out at a special dinner on December 6th at the Mt. Sinai High School.
