Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn recognized Caroline Comiskey of Setauket who was recently awarded the Girl Scout’s Silver Award. Reserved for sixth, seventh and eighth grade scouts, the Silver Award is the second highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Girl Scout and is awarded for completing a community service oriented project.
To earn this honor, Caroline studied ways to craft cheerful and colorful pillowcases. Upon mastering the skill, she taught other scouts who she then enlisted to help create 89 hand sewn pillowcases that were donated to Stony Brook University Medical Center’s Pediatric Cancer Center. Attached to each pillowcase was a personal note of inspiration to the children undergoing treatment.
