Legislator Steven J. Flotteron
helped support Bay Shore and East Islip High Schools during Brooke DiPalma’s P.S.
I Love You Day on Friday, February 9th. Students showed their support for DiPalma’s nationally recognized campaign by wearing purple, giving free hugs and posting inspirational messages against bullying and depression.
“Legislator Flotteron
has always been an influential part of P.S. I Love You Day since it took off seven
years ago. He reached out to me once again this year to offer his support in any way he can to make it the best one yet,” said Brooke DiPalma.
In 2012, Ms. DiPalma created a YouTube video that has inspired more than 70,000 viewers. Following the suicide death of her father, Joseph, she turned her grief into awareness in order to help others suffering. She remembers the last words from her father that so often people leave us with, I Love You. She has marked the second Friday in February as P.S. I Love You Day. She hopes that people across the globe will wear a sea of purple, standing up against bullying, helping end depression, and ultimately end suicide.
“You can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Brooke is a perfect example, having her message go nationally is a testament to her commitment,” said Legislator Flotteron.
