HUNTINGTON, NY – Suffolk County Legislator Susan A. Berland 16th LD (D-Huntington, Babylon and Islip), Chairwoman of the Veterans Committee, sponsored successful legislation to renew the Real Property Tax Exemption for Cold War Veterans at a Special Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature held this afternoon. This exemption was set to expire on March 1st, Taxable Status Day.
“Suffolk County is home to the largest population of veterans in New York State. The legislature has recognized the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have worn the uniform by offering the maximum property tax exemptions allowed under state law to all eligible veterans,” stated Legislator Berland. “I want to thank my colleagues on the Legislature for unanimously passing the resolution, County Executive Steve Bellone and his staff for all their support and assistance and most importantly our veterans for their service to our country.”
