MOUNT SINAI, N.Y. – From February to April 2018, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker partnered with Long Island Cares to host a pet supply drive to help collect pet food to be donated to Baxter’s Pet Pantry. Baxter’s Pet Pantry, operated by Long Island Cares– Harry Chapin Food Bank provides pet-owners in need with pet food and pet supplies.With the help from the community, Legislator Anker’s office was able collect 600 pounds of items such as pet food, toys, and treats that will benefit the pets in need.
“We received an incredible amount of donations from so many wonderful local organizations,” said Legislator Anker. “I would like to extend a big thank you to our local veterinarian offices, boy and girl scout troops, pet supply stores, and generous community members for making this drive so successful.”
Baxter’s Pet Pantry was developed in partnership with the Animal Relief fund to make free pet food and supplies available to pet-owning families in need in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. For more information, please call Long Island Cares at 631-582-FOOD (3663).
