(Smithtown,
NY)…Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta congratulated Stephen R. Vellecca of
Boy Scout Troop 539 at his recent Eagle Scout Court of Honor held at the
Nissequogue Post 5796 VFW in Kings Park. Stephen earned the esteemed rank of
Eagle Scout by completing a labor intensive community based project at the
Kings Park High School. Under Stephen’s
leadership, a courtyard at the High School was renovated and he built three
picnic tables and painted four flower pots. The courtyard was dedicated to the
school’s late social studies teacher, Anthony Scotto, who was also a WWII
veteran.
“It is always an
honor for me to be invited and to attend an Eagle Scout Court of Honor. This is
a tremendous accomplishment for a young person and it is a recognition that Stephen
will have for the rest of his life,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.
“I applaud his parents, family, friends, scout leaders and fellow scouts who
helped him to achieve this goal,” added Legislator Trotta.
